3TEX manufacturers three dimensional woven fabrics that are used to build superior composite armor systems. Unlike conventional woven fabrics, 3WEAVE® has virtually no crimp. Crimp, the crossing of fibers, causes fiber damage and reduces the fabric performance. The fibers in 3WEAVE® are woven together using a "Z" yarn. Products using 3WEAVE® include body armor inserts, armored doors, floors and panels for military vehicles and protective panels for ships.

Improved Mechanical Properties:

• Up to 20% improvement of in-plane static strengths
• Up to 20% higher compression after impact strength
• Critical strain energy release rate (CSERR) increase of up to 20X with 2-3% through-thickness fiber content by weight

Product Development

In addition to 3WEAVE®, 3TEX provides engineering and product development support for our customers, utilizing over 30 years of combined experience in composite armor design. 3TEX engineers can help develop products including soft and hard body armor, vehicle and ship armor and infrastructure hardening. 3TEX can also rapidly prototype composite armor for our customers in our over 50,000 square foot manufacturing area.

Improved Multi-Hit capabilities

3WEAVE has “Z” fibers through the part thickness. This dramatically improves impact damage tolerance by suppressing delamination. This also provides a dramatic increase in multi-threat, multi-hit survivability as well IED and blast protection.

Highly Conformable

3WEAVE is highly conformable to complex mold shapes, such as body armor inserts, shields, helmets, etc., providing uniform part thickness and eliminating complicated darting and pin-wheeling.

Customizable

3WEAVE is manufactured in a wide range of thicknesses and areal densities and can be made up to 1” thick. Various fibers including glass, carbon, aramid, polyethylene and hybrids are made in customer specific complex shapes. This enables armor designers to utilize the properties of different fibers in different
orientations.
